One year ago tomorrow mine and Ethans world was tossed upside down by one single email.

At the time I had no idea what we were going to do. A week before we were supposed to move into our new house and start the new leg in our lives, and now all of a sudden we were moving to a big house all by ourselves. So much uncertainty and shock and a total colapse of all things that we thought were right.

Found a job in May, and ended my maternity leave early so that I could support my little boy and make sure he was taken care of. Left that job in September and started commuting to Toronto again for more money, and ability to hopefully keep the house.

Fast forward a few months and things were adjusting fairly well. I had moved forward with my life as a completely single mom, and I think I was doing a fantastic job; no time to wonder what could be fixed, just time to move forward for the best future for Ethan. Lonely some days, but over all, easily manageable.

Fast forward some more, and we hit Christmas. 8 months since the separation and we are well adjusted. Dad is finally starting to take an interest in Ethan and we set up a schedule of every other weekend visitation.

New Years, well, what can I say ... BEST EVER!!! The start of a new year, a new beginning and a new amazing relationship.

And then here we are now ... 1 year post separation. The year has absolutely flown by. Absolutely nothing has been resolved regarding the separation other then a partial visitation schedule which is only followed 1/2 the time, but we are working towards resolution on these things.

Ethan is doing amazing. He is learning so much, and is growing way to quickly. Less then 2 months from now he is going to be 2 years old .... wow....

Each day learning new things, and picking up new words. He has become a parrot and enjoys mimicking what others around him do.
He has a great new relationship with Chris, and his 2 kids, Chloe and Chase and he is always so excited to see them when they come home.

Me .... well ... couldn't be happier. Everything in life happens for a reason, and this is the best possible thing that could have ever happened. Looking back, the best thing to come of my marriage was the birth of my amazing young boy. He has kept me positive on negative days, and he pushed me to move forward with my life in the early weeks of the separation. His smile, his laugh and his hugs make everything else in this world disappear.

And then there is the new additions to my life: Chris, Chloe, Chase and Pepper. We have become our own little family and everyone is adjusting in such amazing ways. Chris is the one I have searched for and always desired. He is my soul mate, and we have an absolutely amazing future ahead of us. So many things to do as a couple and as a family; camping, roller coasters, walks, exploring, sports, enjoying each others company, talking, laughing, and just enjoying life as a whole.

So, to wrap it all up, I would have never guessed at this time last year that I would be where I am today, but I am very happy to be where we are.

I took Ethan for his first hair cut today. Just a trim to make everything more even and get the hair out of his eyes.

He did an awesome job and look so cute and grown up now.

We went to Little Tots in Pickering. They had themed chairs for the kids to play in and a huge ball pit for them to play in before and after their hair cut.
My little boy is getting so big.Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-6860516916679579892013-02-10T18:40:00.002-05:002013-02-10T18:40:24.923-05:00My oh My .... Almost 2? Well, tomorrow my little man will be 20 months old - Just 4 more months until he is 2. Really? Where has the time gone? It is hard to believe that I will have a 2 year old little boy in such a few short months, but at the same time it is quite exciting.

Again I am loving this stage with all the learning and progress we are making. It is just unbelievable. Each day more and more attempts for words and even starting to try and have full out conversations.

Yesterday morning we were getting dressed, and he was counting with me. He is starting to recognize colours and he can point out Blue, Green, Yellow and Red almost always when we are looking at stories. He knows all his body parts, and is doing so great. I am very lucky to have a generally happy, pleasant and smart little boy.

Yesterday with all the snow that we got, we went out with some friends to play in the snow and go for a ride in a sled. He had a great time except when he couldn't walk because the snow was too deep. He was so cute all bundled up in his snow suit though.

He eventually decided he was done playing in the snow and wanted to try and do the slides and the playground. It was quite fun to watch his determination of climbing the steps and getting onto the slide. Definitley wasn't an easy thing to do in his snow suit but he managed quite well. He had a great time, and now mommy needs to find a good tobaggan for him so that he can maybe try going down a hill :)

On a side note, it looks like we should be able to keep our house and not have to move anytime soon, which is a good thing as the housing market isn't too nice right now for any profit on our house. Life is coming along very well with great new opportunities and fun for 2013. Life for Ethan and I is definitley coming together and looking very positive. This is continuing to be an amazing year, and although it is flying by already, we are enjoying each and every minute of it :)

Lots of changes in our lives and many ups and downs, but overall the year has been the ending of something and the beginning of others.

Ethan has become a very well adjusted and amazing little boy. Our lives as a 2 person family have had their hard times, but over all it has been an amazing adventure that is just going to be even more exciting this coming year!

As the first day of 2013 draws to a close I thought I should write a quick note to say how excited I am for this coming year. 2012 can kiss my a** and 2013 is being accepted with open arms.

April 2012 was the start of a new venture for Ethan and I and so far I think we have done a great job. With the amazing support from my parents who have given me the help when needed, as well as my close friends who have been the shoulders to cry on and to vent to. Thank you to each and every one of you (you know who you are). I can not express to any of you enough how much I love you and how much our relationships mean to us!!

Summer 2012 came the beginning of meeting some amazing new friends who I hope to keep close to my life and my heart for many months and years to come. Amazing people who have gone through similar situations and who have accepted me for who I am and what I have been through. Everyone should be so lucky to meet people like this. Completely open, honest and non-judgemental. Since joining my 'separation 2 success' group I have found my life again, and reinvested in my happiness. I have gotten back who I was before and re-acquired my social life. It has been amazing to meet each of these people and although it is sad to see that divorce is what brought us all together, it is nice in the end as we have made some very close bonds.

Christmas this year was a strange one. Happy yet sad, Lonely yet Loving! Surrounded by my family and my son for Christmas morning was all I could ask for. The day ended with a very quiet night at home, but allowed for some great reflection time.

New Years 2012 - What can I say - WOW! Again a quiet evening with time to reflect on the past year and to start thinking about how 2013 is going to be. A new job, new friends, and new life to live. Special people have entered into my life and I can't wait to see how things develop over the near and far future. Again you know who you are :)

Life has its ups and downs, and its twists and turns, but in the end it knows what it is doing. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger and we will fight forward to find the perfect life to live. We will be the ones to choose what we will do with our lives and when the time is right to move forward. No one can tell us different for it is only us who knows our own heart!

My resolution for 2013 is to find true happiness and keep being me.

Ow
More
Help
Keys

More and more learning happening and more and more character developing.

We had our 18 month check up on Friday which was great. Ethan has reached all the milestones that he should have by this age, and is doing great. Mommy was worried about his weight but he has remained on target and at the same growth cycle since birth.

There were absolutely no tears with his needle this time around, but there was a lot of irritability and lots of 'ow, ow, ow' for the night as he pointed to his arm :( Poor little guy.

He is now 24.5 pounds, and 33 inches tall.

He is becoming more and more aware of his surroundings and understanding the things that I ask him to do which is awesome. From cleaning up his toys to putting his books back on the book shelf; or taking my hand and taking me to where he wants to go; He has been conscious of my sore knee pointing to it and saying 'ow' every time he accidentaly knocks it ... lol ... He is becoming such a big boy.

Meal time has become interesting here at the house. He will sit in his little seat for about 3 bites of food, but then he wants to come out and he will eat at his leisure while wondering around, just picking when he wants. Drives me crazy as I really would like him to just sit down and eat nicely, but hey, I guess as long as he is eating that is what matters.

Just over a week until Christmas. It should be a fun year this year, although a strange year as he will be visiting his dad half way through the day on Christmas day until Dec 27th. He will be with me and my family for Christmas eve and morning though so that should be nice. It will be fun to see how interested he is in the whole present thing and how much he understands.

We tried to sit on Santa's knee today and it was a definite no go. I got the death grip before we even got close to Santa's lap, so no Santa pic this year .... hopefully next year will be more successful!!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-50098109413603161592012-12-10T21:20:00.000-05:002012-12-10T21:20:15.312-05:00Time is Flying - 18 months old .... wowWell as I figured I still have a horribly hard time remembering to update this damn thing as much as I wanted .... but here goes another entry.

Tomorrow will be Ethan's 18 month 'birthday'. I can't believe how old he is and how big he is getting.

This age is again become one of my favourites as he is learning and doing so much more. Each day he amazes me more with the new things he is doing!

So many words, so much character and personality, and so much fun. The kisses, the hugs, the laughs, the smiles, the attitude, the tantrums, the words and songs. Love this little man to pieces.
Ethan is almost done cutting all of this 'pre 2 year' teeth. We are working on the final 2 eye teeth on the right hand side, and I can say once again, Thank god for Camillia teething medicine and his amber teething necklace. Without those 2 things life would be miserable.

Ethan has become a parrot and a shadow. Everything you say he is trying to say it back, and everything you do he is copying you. He has become a real monkey with climbing on everything, jumping around and loves to dance.

One night about a month ago he brought tears to my eyes when I told him I loved him at bed time and he said 'love you' back to me. Such an amazing moment as a mother. He has only since repeated this 2 more times, but I say it to him all the time, and most of the time I get a smile and a nod ... lol

We have many more words now including:
Hi
Bye
Ouch
On
Off
Down
Up
book
hot
truck
Plus all the others that he has been saying for months.

Friday is his 18 month check up and I am anticipating good things as usual.

I think in January we are going to start to potty train as he is fully knowledgeable when he has gone #2 and he points it out to me .... He has am thinking it is just about time to start that venture.
This last week Ethan got his upper left and lower left first molar :) And it looks like the right are on their way soon also.

We are working on talking and trying to get some more words formulated.
I think we have:
Ball
Duck
Door
Bye
Done (sometimes)
Light (sometimes)
Mama
Dada
Baba (bottle)

And we are working hard on many more. He is trying so hard to talk the last couple of days it is just so exciting!!! Love it :) Again we are entering what is proving to be another favourite stage!! So awesome :)Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-46837982349878144722012-06-24T17:20:00.001-04:002012-06-24T17:36:19.823-04:00Getting so BigAs I figured, I am having a hard time remembering to update this thing, but I guess if I can manage to write something every few months it is good, even if I dont write it when it happens!!

So, what is new?

Well, Ethan is starting to 'run' never mind just walk. He is climbing on everything and just exploring his world. It is such an exciting time with him. So many new things he can do and enjoy. We can now go to the park and he can play on the playground, and the slides, and loves to chase the birds. And of course, loves watching the other children play.

He is still a huge flirt with all the ladies. No matter what kind of mood he is in, once we are anywhere there are people, especially ladies, he is smiling and laughing and flirting with them all. Way too cute.

This week was a rough week with him being sick. He had a double ear infection, throat infection and eye infection. The walk in clinic put him on amoxicillin and we discovered that he is allergic to it. After a few days he was completely covered in hives. So, no more penicillin products for him.

We are adjusting in the house quite well and adjusting to life as just the 2 of us. We have some rough days, but for the most part, we are doing great.

Ethan is loving his daycare provider, and the kids that are there with him. He is learning so much, and getting lots of socialization. I love getting his little crafts home and seeing what he gets to do each day.

Lets see, new things that we have figured out:
Clapping
High Five
Drinking from a straw
Crouching
Going from 'sitting' to standing - although still working on this

We also have 3 more teeth, making the total now 8! 4 on top and 4 on the bottom :D

Ethan is back to loving the water and swiming as well, which is awesome! Now we just have to try and make sure we go swimming at least 1 x a week :D

It has been about a week and a bit since the first few steps were taken and boy oh boy is he ever proud of himself when he walks!!

He is becoming a bigger monkey then ever and is climbing over and on everything. Definitely keeping mommy busy.

We have moved into our new house and although unpacking has been difficult with a 10 month old, we are managing to get things done slowly! It was a tough adjustment to the life changes, but each day gets a little bit better.

Mommy is looking for a job and hoping that something comes up soon so that we can plan and have a better idea of our future. Really hoping to somehow keep our new house even with the recent changes which have taken place.

Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-79691489459444323992012-04-01T18:28:00.000-04:002012-04-01T18:28:26.245-04:00The Fun ContinuesWell, the fun continues in our house.

Ethan is getting bigger and bigger each day and is learning many new things. He has started to stand on his own without holding onto anything, he is walking along any and all furniture that he can find. He is trying to climb on anything and everything. If there is something that he can climb over he will; tv tables, toys, legs, benches, foam cubes, steps; nothing can get in his way, and he certainly will not go around.

He has mastered climbing stairs as well, even though there was no practice required. He saw them and climbed them as if he was a pro and had been doing it forever. It was unbelievable.

He enjoys practicing his walking, and will tip over any of his larger toys to push along the floor to practice his walking. It is really quite cute.

We are running into issues with eating and sleeping again. Sleep has been very sporadic and all over the place. Still not doing much napping during the day, and if he does manage a nap it is usually a huge fight to get him down, and it only lasts for 30 mins to an hour tops. Night time is horrible with being up every 2-3 hours again for the last 2 weeks. Mommy is one tired lady. Not too sure if the sleep issues are due to teeth, 9 month sleep regression, night terrors, 9 month wakeful period or what, but I certainly hope that it will end soon and we can get back to sleeping.

Ethan has become what I want to call a picky eater ... lol ... although it is totally day by day what he will eat and when he will eat it. One day he will love something and the next he will just spit it out. So, I have no idea what is happening there, but it is keeping me on my toes and making me try and figure out new things. I never thought I would let my kid eat jello, yoghurt and animal crakers for dinner, but hey, if that is all he will eat, then I guess that is what he is getting :P

We have also figured out how to wave, say mama, and dada and telling many many different types of stories now. Can't wait for some of these sounds to turn into more words :D

Not looking forward to returning to work in a couple months as things are getting to be so much fun with him, but I know that it will be worth it in the end. Still trying to decide on what to do for work, and where to work, but hoping to find something in the durham region so that I dont have to do the commute to downtown and miss almost all the waking hours of Ethan's day. We will see what happens; so far no applications have resulted in anything!

Until next time :DErinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-65471716010034966742012-02-14T21:25:00.000-05:002012-02-14T21:25:48.256-05:00What A MonkeyEthan is getting to be a very busy boy. He is pulling up on everything he can reach and is even trying to climb on things.

We have a box in the living room that he climbed on top of, and then proceeded to try and climb up onto the ottoman from the box. Then daddy took him off as he was trying to take things off of the make shift computer desk in the living room!

Once he was back on the floor he kept moving back and forth between the couch, the ottoman, and the box ... up and down, up and down, up and down.

He has also realized how to throw things around; toys, slippers, teething ring, whatever he can get in his hands can be thrown.

He is getting to be so strong and so curious. Trying to get into anything and everything that he can, including the cats water and food.

On another note, he is loving giving kisses. I even got a kiss tonight as he was falling asleep. It was the best mommy and baby moment yet.
He was almost asleep on my chest and he sat up, gave me a kiss and proceeded to fall back to sleep on my chest. So adorable, so sweet, and so awesome!!! He is becoming more and more like a little boy and I can't wait to see what amazing things we are going to enjoy in the near future :DErinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-25502587674544086622012-02-05T08:26:00.000-05:002012-02-05T08:26:01.922-05:00What a Week!!This week we have mastered sitting up from the laying down position, pulling up on everything, sitting down for standing up, eating more solid foods that aren't pureed and a new crooked and fun smile!

Last night we did some practicing of sitting once standing, and it was really cute. I looked over at him in his toy area and he was standing at his train table, and kept squatting down really slow. Then he would stand back up and squat really slow but a little bit lower.
Finally his bum hit the floor, and he pulled himself back up and proceeded to do this a couple times. The amount of learning is just unbelievable.

He is army crawling all over the place and moving quite well and quick; especially when he sees something that he wants (the cats, shoes, the laptop wire).

We have a 3rd tooth coming in on the top and so far nothing too painful for him other then the drooling and wanting to chew.

We are learning so much each and every day right now it is amazing. I can't wait until he figures out the actual walking. Will keep us much more busy, but boy will it be fun!

Here is a picture of our new crooked over exaggerated smile ... so cute and funny!!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-16960402179445678642012-01-16T10:15:00.001-05:002012-01-16T10:19:31.655-05:00And we Have an Army CrawlerWell, Ethan has been managing to get around lately by rolling and pushing himself in circles, but he is now officially an army crawler. He has figured out how to pull himself forward by using his arms, and is doing a pretty good job. He knows how to get into the cat food, the TV stand and anything that he shouldn't be into real quickly and you can see that he is on a mission to get there.

Right now he is playing with a receipt that was in a bag, which was in a box, that he managed to pull out. What a little turkey.

And of course he is talking away while he plays with the receipt ... I am sure he is trying to 'read' it, as he does this with tags as well! It is quite cute.

His teeth are still bugging him, We have had a rough couple of nights with bed time as he has put up a real fuss when it comes time to go to sleep! He has had a high fever the last 2 nights as well, which was a bit scarry the first night.

Why is it that the fevers spike at night when it is bed time? Why are they find all day but then when it comes time to go to sleep its like a whole different baby? UGH!

Hopefully these teeth will come in soon though and we can be through all of this!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-8743852515000589592012-01-12T11:48:00.000-05:002012-01-12T11:48:38.141-05:007 Months OldWell, it has been a month since my last blog post. I am not keeping on top of this as much as I had wanted to, but hopefully it will get better soon!

So, what has happened in the last month with Ethan?

He is now trying to push up on both his knees and his arms, and is having some success. He has figured out the rolling thing, as well as how to spin around on his belly, so he makes it around the living room and play room fairly well and quite quickly.

Ethan has also decided that he continues to enjoy standing and has figured out how to stand against the furniture. He also is trying his hardest to pull himself up on his higher toys and the furniture.

He is getting so big it is crazy. He has started to also enjoy finger foods like cucmber, bread, cheese, broccoli, zuchinni, sweet potato, egg plant and anything else we can give to him that he can chew.

We have a lot to look forward to in the next coming months and life is getting much busier as Ethan is becoming more active. Can't wait until the spring when he is fully mobile and we can enjoy going to the parks and for walks, and most especially the zoo!!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-64756987634495862652011-12-07T16:31:00.000-05:002011-12-07T16:31:22.002-05:006 Month Check upSo, we had our 6 month check up and needle today!

Ethan is a happy, healthy boy and took very well to this needle. Just a small little fuss and that was it!

He weighed in at 17 lbs 4 ounces, and the debate is on about his height.

The receptionist measures the babies, and when she measured him it came up as 26.1 inches, which is pretty much what he was 2 months ago. So, they are going with the thought that he was 'mis-measured' at his last visit, but infact, when measured correctly at this visit he is just about 27 inches. I tried to show the receptionist that, and she wouldn't listen. Basically when she measured him she didn't straighten his leg completely, and it was over to the side, which obviously will give you an inaccurate reading. But, she knows what she is doing best, so of course she wouldn't let me show her different! Oh well!! I know the real truth .... LOL!!!

Our doctor has given us the go ahead to start giving Ethan dairy as well. So he is good to have cottage cheese, regular cheese and yoghurt. Of course, no milk yet other then breast milk! He once again had no issues with the fact that we are on 3 meals a day as Ethan is tolerating it all quite well and really enjoying his food!

Next checkup will be in February as a follow up for the Kidney Ultrasound and then in March for his 9 month check!!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-15278257531987653382011-12-06T19:41:00.000-05:002011-12-06T19:41:12.759-05:00Crawling by Christmas? hhhmmmmSo, in the last couple of days Ethan has began gracefully moving from his sitting position to his knees and was caught a couple times rocking back and forth while trying to reach a toy. Is this a sign that crawling will be in our near future? hmmm!

It is quite fun to sit and watch him play now as he knows what he wants and is working quite hard to get it. He is trying so hard to be mobile; to climb from my arms to daddys arms; or to move across the play mat to get the other toy he is wanting to play with. To see the look of determination in his eyes is just amazing.

He has began to also really study things. Look at the toys and try to figure out how they work and what they can do.

We got rid of his jolly jumper as he didn't seem to jump in it, and we have swapped it out for a jumper-roo that my parents got from a neighbour. He seems to quite enjoy that, and his exercauser, and seems to get a really good jumping routine down in both of those.

I can't believe that he is almost 6 months already, time has just flown by. He is getting so big and learning so many things each day its crazy.

On another note, we have a second tooth. It has just popped through his gums now and is on its way up. So by Christmas his two lower teeth should be all the way out :D He looks so cute with his little teeth!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-32093578294370450022011-11-16T08:32:00.000-05:002011-11-16T08:32:01.653-05:00And we Have a TOOTH!So, on Monday morning, Ethan was his usual drooling, chewing self, and when he managed to get my finger into his mouth I felt something very sharp.
Upon some investigation we can see that he has his first little tooth cutting through the gums.

What an exciting time. The only real change to his days were that he was a bit more tired then usual for the 2 days before. We had no major crankiness, or outbreaks, no fever and no diarrhea!

I am not too sure how long it takes for the tooth to fully erupt, but I am sure that it wont take too long!

He is getting so big, its crazy! I still can't believe we are already at the point of a first tooth. Time is going way to quickly!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-73090638458372678292011-11-11T15:06:00.000-05:002011-11-11T15:06:07.401-05:00Happy 5 Months Little ManWow! 5 Months already. It is hard to believe this much time has gone by already, but yet it feels as though he has been here for so much longer. Ethan has become such a part of our lives that it is hard to remember what life was like before him. Other then the freedom to go to a movie that is pretty much the only thing that I have found different about our lives. Ethan has gone everywhere with us, and he is so adaptable to go where ever it is great.

We just bought his new car seat today as well as he has almost outgrown his infant seat. He is getting so big and is so aware of things that are going on.

Since learning how to sit last month, he no longer enjoys tummy time or laying on his back. He just wants to be sitting or standing all the time. He is learning how to stand while holding onto things now as well, and does manage to stand for a good amount of time. He has also actually tried to turn and grab onto another item and pull himself over a couple times as well. I wonder if we will have a walker at Christams time? If not by then, I am sure it will be soon after. I have a feeling as well that he may just skip right over the crawling stage and go straight to walking. Soon we will have to start thinking about babyproffing the house. What a task that is going to be!

Today, we celebrate his 5 months with a Date night for mommy and daddy :) My dad has picked Ethan up this afternoon to take him back to their place for the night. We will be free of baby for almost 24 hours. WOW! What are we going to do? It already feels so strange to not have him here at the house with us. Last time we were baby free for a night we were in Niagara so it was a much different feeling. I wonder how well I will be able to sleep tonight and if I will 'hear the baby crying' while I am trying to sleep?Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-18315634917674689912011-11-06T13:26:00.000-05:002011-11-06T13:26:35.683-05:00Oh the Many Flavours of FoodSo trying to think of all the things we have tried so far, and it is quite shocking how many items there are.

We have tried:

Rice Cereal
Wheat Cereal
Wheat Oat and Rice Cereal
Mixed Fruit

Sweet Potato
White Potato

Pears
Apples
Papaya
Nectarine
Banana
Apple Sauce w/ Cinnamom and Nutmeg
Butternut Squash
Acorn Squash
Broccoli
Zuchinni
Turnip
Peas
Carrots
Chicken
Pumpkin
Avacado
Farleys Biscuits
Chicken Pot Pie
Rice Pudding
Mango Pudding
Ice Cream
Jello

And this week we will try:
Beets
Parsnips
Tofu

So far the only things he hasn't been to fond of are the peas and carrots alone, and the broccoli, but once mixed with other things we can easily get him to eat them!! My boy loves to eat.

We also just graduated from the 1 oz (40 ml) food cubes to the 70 ml food cubes as he was eating 5-7 cubes each meal!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-17241213626275695582011-11-02T20:20:00.000-04:002011-11-02T20:20:05.961-04:00eeewwww .... BroccoliSo, we finally found a food that Ethan doesn't really like too much.

Broccoli

Made some up for him yesterday and tried it alone, with very little success. So, I tried adding in some cauliflower which he really enjoyed, and that also didn't succeed. I tried to give him the 2 again about 2 hours later and he still refused it. So, we put it away for the night!

So, tonight we tried it again with Broccoli, cauliflower and pumpkin and that was a no go! So, since I had some papaya out for his desert I added that into the mixture and he Finally ate it up!

So, if that is what it takes to get him to eat the Broccoli, then I guess that is what we will do :DErinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-73936768346384628702011-11-02T20:17:00.000-04:002011-11-02T20:17:14.974-04:00The True Discovery of his ToesSo over the last week or so Ethan has been noticing his toes and starting to try and put them into his mouth. It has been pretty funny to watch and to hear him as he tried to accomplish this mission.

On Friday we were at the mall with our mommy group and Ethan had socks and slippers on and he was being Very Vocal. He was talking really loud while looking at his feet. I couldn't figure out what he was saying or why he was being so loud and I finally decided to take his socks and slippers off, which resulted in him being very quiet. It was quite funny!

Then on the weekend he figured out just how to grab his feet and get his toes into his mouth. He even had both toes in his mouth at one point, which is quite funny!

Now that he has figured it out it had become quite the show when he has socks on, when he is in the bath, or even when he sees our toes. He 'yells' at them until they are in his mouth! What a funny guy!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-75477812321004150352011-10-26T19:04:00.000-04:002011-10-26T19:04:53.999-04:00Rolling Over - Belly to BackSo for the last couple of weeks we have been practicing our rolling! Ethan enjoys his tummy time, but eventually gets sick of being on his tummy so I have been trying to teach him how to roll over to his back. He has been doing pretty good once I get him started with putting his head back.

To help with the teaching I have installed a mirror at the top of his play mat, so when he has tummy time it is facing the mirror, and we practice our rolling while he can see in the mirror what is happening as well!!

So, yesterday we were at Beans and Babes for our Tuesday mommy play date, and I put him on his tummy on the floor and looked up to continue a converstaion with another mommy. Well when I looked back down, Ethan was on his back. Of course I didn't see him do this, but he did it!

Then tonight, James was cleaning up after dinner, I got Ethan into his jammies and put him on his play mat for some tummy time. I was asking James if I mentioned him rolling over yesterday at Beans and Babes, and as I was saying that, I looked down at Ethan and he rolled over all on his own again!

What a big boy! He is growing so much, and learning so many new things it is awesome!!!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-90426750017199032412011-10-26T19:01:00.000-04:002011-10-26T19:01:16.283-04:00More tasty foods and LearningSo, we have tried a few more foods this past week, including sweet potato, papaya, nectarine, humus, green tea ice cream and mango ice cream, as well as wheat cereal.

This morning when Ethan was having breakfast he was done with the wheat cereal so I gave him some papaya. Of course the 2 items are durastically different in taste as well as colour. So as he wasn't finished the wheat cereal I figured after eating about half the papaya I would try to get him to finish the cereal. Well, he looked at the spoon of wheat cereal and refused to open his mouth. So, I took the cereal off and put more papaya on, and he looked at the spoon and gladly opened his mouth once again. What a little turkey. Too smart for his own good.

Tonight after dinner, as I know he is typically a bit thirsty after eating his meals, and if he has any breastmilk he tends to spit up as he is already full, so we tried a bit of water in a sippy cup. It took him about 10 minutes to figure out the sucking action rather then the chewing and biting, but he eventually got it. He even managed to hold the sippy cup and put it up into his own mouth!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-58375208521607116412011-10-12T22:18:00.000-04:002011-10-12T22:18:41.111-04:00Yeah for Breast MilkSo, last week on Thursday when we went for Ethan's 4 month check up I mentioned to the Paediatrician that I thought I was having milk supply issues. I was finding that by mid-afternoon Ethan was not satisfied with my milk. He would thrash, punch and fuss any time I tried to latch him and he just wasn't getting enough to eat.

So, of course that is part of what prompted us to start solids with him.

Well, the paediatrician recommended that I try out a medication called Domperidon, which was original made for digestive track health, but one of the side effects was an increase in milk production. How they figured this out beats me, but hey, a bonus for us!!!

Well, it totally is working. Just 5 days after taking the medication Ethan has gained 7 ounces!!! WOOHOO!!!

No more milk supply issues, and a much happier baby!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7427030753712759774.post-12473894865500756082011-10-08T21:35:00.000-04:002011-10-08T21:35:58.032-04:00LearningSo I am really loving this age with the baby. He is learning so many things these days and it is just great.

Labour Day weekend (1 month ago) he really started to notice his toys and realize that he can hold them in his hands. Now, anything that goes into his hands goes into his mouth. He is starting to see the cause and effect of things as well, especially in his exercauser. He has realized that when he presses certain buttons or toys they make music and he loves it. Any time he hits the toys he looks up in amazement! So cute :D

This week he has started to play with his Sophie the Giraffe. Everyone wonders what it is that makes this toy so 'exciting' for kids. He goes crazy for it, which is just new this week. You give Sophie to him and he gets all excited and bites it and eats it like its going out of style. So cute.

Tonight, when we got home I was preparing Ethan's bath and so I put him sitting down on the floor by my feet. He often sits like this and just uses my legs for support, and every once and a while I will separate my legs a bit to let him sit on his own for the millisecond that he can. Well tonight rather then flopping over he actually stayed sitting. Just totally out of the blue! No flopping sideways, or forwards at all! So amazing; and just unbelievable. He can't sit straight up, but pretty good considering he is only just 4 months old!Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07448545603019745893noreply@blogger.com0
